Fox Cancels ‘The X Factor’ After Three Seasons

After three seasons, Fox has chosen to cancel "˜The X Factor'. The singing competition show is incredibly popular in the UK, launching such acts as Leona Lewis and One Direction. Unfortunately, it couldn't sustain an American audience, even helmed by Simon Cowell.

The show first aired in 2010 and cycled through various judges including Simon Cowell, Nicole Scherzinger, Demi Lovato, and Britney Spears. Although it premiered strong, it couldn't seem to distinguish itself from other singing competition shows, like "˜The Voice' and never lived up the prehype. The cancellation comes just hours after the announcement that Simon Cowell has rejoined the UK's version of "˜The X Factor'.
