ABC Renews ‘Nashville’ for Third Season, Orders More Comedies

ABC recently announced that country music series Nashville will be back for a third season in the fall. Complications arose when there were doubts that the state of Tennessee would not offer the generous filming incentives it had offered for the past two seasons. While not a ratings powerhouse for the network, Nashville is strongly liked over at ABC and often uses music crossovers to bolster their appeal. Their original music is sold every week on iTunes and some of the cast recently did a short concert tour, which was considered a success.

ABC also ordered two more comedy series "“ Cristela and Fresh Off the Boat "“ and has renewed Tim Allen's Last Man Standing for a fourth season.

Cristela stars Cristela Alonzo as a law student balancing her ambition with her Mexican-American family's expectations. Alonzo wrote the pilot with Kevin Hench.

Fresh Off the Boat is set in 1990s Orlando, Florida about an Asian immigrant family that has just moved from Washington, DC. Nahnatchka Kahn (Don't Trust the B in Apt 23) wrote the pilot. The series is based on the memoir of celebrity chef Eddie Huang, who will serve as a producer on the series.
