Three years after the original astonished audiences and earned an Oscar nomination, Creed II is back for revenge, and box office success.
Focusing on an historic match between the sons of Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren) and Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers), Creed II pits Viktor (real-life boxer Florian Munteanu) against Adonis (Michael B. Jordan) in a dangerous bout that could end in death.
There are lots of shots of Jordan looking beaten and weathered, but the film spends just as much time breaking down Adonis's pride, reminding him that his decision to fight is more about proving himself than honoring his father.
While the film will have a hard time living up to its predecessor, there doesn't seem to be any reason to worry this one won't also be a knockout.
Creed II hits theaters on Wednesday, November 21.
