In what reads as an episode of Black Mirror, the new trailer for Captive State combines glitchy screens, a too-calm female narrator, and plenty of dark images to convey that the film’s mantra of “Peace. Unity. Harmony.” is not what lies beneath the surface.
Set in a Chicago neighborhood almost ten years after an occupation by an extraterrestrial force, Captive State explores the lives on both sides of the conflict, both the collaborators and the dissidents.
The film is directed by Rupert Wyatt, written by Wyatt and Erica Beeney, and stars John Goodman, Ashton Sanders, Jonathan Majors, Colson Baker and Vera Farmiga.
