Tessa Thompson Joins “Thor: Ragnarok” Cast

News coming out of Marvel Studios is that actress Tessa Thompson (Selma, Creed) has been cast as Thor’s new love interest in the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok. Yes, this means that Natalie Portman will not be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (though we are still holding out hope for Kat Dennings’ return). Sources are saying that Thompson’s character will be a superhero in some way shape or form and has signed a multi-feature deal within the franchise.

There has been rampant speculation, as well as a variety of spoilers, about just what the third Thor film will entail. Most “news” being discussed is that the film will be a mixture of the Ragnarok and Planet Hulk storylines, resulting in somewhat of buddy-film between Thor and Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk. Because of this, many believe that Ms. Thompson has been cast as the Asgardian ‘Enchantress’.

Thor: Ragnarok, which begins production in July, is being directed by Taika Waititi and stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett, Jaime Alexander, Mark Ruffalo, and Lou Ferrigno.  It is currently tabbed for a November 3, 2017 release.
