Austin Film Festival Announces First Ten Films

Austin Film Festival (AFF) has just announced its first ten films to screen at its 23rd annual festival. These first ten films range the usual gamut from drama to documentary to television and everything in between.

5 Doctors (World Premiere)
Directors: Max Azulay, Matt Porter
A comedian, convinced he’s dying, visits his five doctors in his childhood hometown.

Brave New Jersey (World Premiere)
Writer-Director: Jody Lambert
Lambert will be attendance to screen his film that follows a small New Jersey town in 1938, who listen to Orson Welles’s “War of the Worlds” and are convinced an alien invasion is taking place. Cast members, Tony Hale, Anna Camp, Heather Burns and Dan Bakkedahl will also be attendance.

Crunch Time – Season 1
Writers: Andrew Disney and Bradley Jackson
Writers Andrew Disney and Bradley Jackson have created a television show that imagines that the world is ending ­– and it’s entirely the fault of a handful of college students.

Diana and Devine Meet the Apocalypse
Writer-Directors: Etta Devine and Gabriel Diana
Devine and Diana tell the story of what would happen to a person if the power and communications system mysteriously turned off. Where would they go? What would they do?

Forushande (The Salesman) (Texas Premiere)
Writer-Director: Asghar Farhadi
Emad and Rana are a young couple living in Tehran. When they are forced to move to a new apartment, they must also face the eruption of violence in their new home.

Gimme Danger (Texas Premiere)
Director: Jim Jarmusch
Gimme Danger tells the story of iconic punk legends the Stooges and Iggy Pop.

Good Fortune (North American Premiere)
Directors: Joshua Tickell, Rebecca Harrell Tickell
John Paul DeJoria is the poster boy of “conscious capitalism” but he wasn’t always so successful.

Monogamish (North American Premiere)
Director: Tao Ruspoli
Fresh from a messy and public divorce, independent filmmaker and Italian Prince Tao Ruspoli explores the topic of love, sex, and monogamy in our current culture.

ProGamer (World Premiere)
Director: Justin Agnew
ProGamer takes a look at electronic sports by specifically spending time with professional Starcraft II gamers Naniwa and White-Ra.

Quaker Oaths
Writer/Director: Louisiana Keurtz
Per Quaker tradition, Emily and Joe must travel across the country to get names scratched off their wedding certificate so they can get divorced.
