Alamo & Mondo Set to Celebrate “Alien” 30th Anniversary

To all those Alien fans, guess what is coming your way?! That’s right! LV-426 day. What’s that you say? You don’t know what LV-426 is?

Alamo Drafthouse and Mondo are joining in on 20th Century Fox’s national celebration, bringing us “Alien Day” (also refered to as LV-426). The celebration lands on 4-26-16, a date paying tribute to the bleak and isolated LV-426 seen in both films.

While Queen Alien might be a lock in your horror Final Four, the film is also renowned for it’s strong female leads. Sigourney Weaver, the strong and empowering Ellen Ripley, will be on hand for a screening of the film at New York City’s Town Hall. On the other coast, at Los Angeles’ The Theatre of the Ace Hotel, Jenette Goldstein (Private Vasquez) and Carrie Newt, a.k.a Newt, will be on hand for a special Q&A. Not to be completely outdone, Alamo and Mondo with co-present a terrific double feature of Alien and Aliens at Chicago’s The Music Box Theatre.

"We're all massive fans of the Alien franchise so being able to host these epic screenings with Sigourney herself in New York, Jenette and Carrie in Los Angeles before we even have our own theaters open in those cities is just insane," says Alamo VP of Special Events, Henri Mazza. "These are three of the most iconic and badass female protagonists ever committed to film, to celebrate Aliens’ 30th anniversary with them is a real honor."

Each LV-426 screenings will be it’s own unique event, including an awesome custom video pre-shows that the Alamo Drafthouse is known for and a limited for-sale Mondo Alien t-shirts by Creative Director Jay Shaw. On top of the amazing t-shirts, Mondo will also have an expanded line of their products, including posters, spectacular vinyl and fanciful apparel inspired by the property via their website on April 26th . For those in Austin, a pop-up store will be stationed in the lobby of the Alamo Drafthouse on South Lamar from April 22nd through May 1st.
