Finally, after a much hyped about worldwide search, Sony PIctures has announced the new Spiderman.
Drumroll please...
Andrew Garfield
That is right, Sony has gone with a relative unknown, but critically acclaimed actor in Andrew Garfield, star of Boy A, Lions for Lambs, the Red Riding trilogy and The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. He can also be seen in David Fincher's upcoming The Social Network.
This is a bold move for the studio, who could have had their pick from almost anyone for the role. Marc Webb, director of the upcoming film, said of Garfield, "Though his name may be new to many, those who know this young actor’s work understand his extraordinary talents. He has a rare combination of intelligence, wit, and humanity. Mark my words, you will love Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker.”
So what do you think guys? Are you still interested in this film, or has it lost its luster already? And who do you think should star opposite Garfield as Kristin Dunst's replacement in the form of Mary Jane Watson? I personally would like to see Emma Stone there, but that probably has more to do with my fixation on her than an actual good fit.
The next installment of Spiderman is set to hit 3-D screens everywhere on July 3, 2012.
