Dakota Skips Out on Eclipse Showing for WHAT?
By: Stephen Davis
June 16, 2010
Last week select press were invited to a very early screening of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. The press were shown the movie in order to conduct relavent interviews with the press about the film, the franchise and what to expect from the final two films. It is a standard procedure these days, so no hype or hoopla was made about it - until now.

Press who attended the screening noticed that star Dakota Fanning was not in attendance. It was odd, especially considering her increased screen time in the film, and the fact that she is Dakota Fanning. So when she arrived for interviews the following days, questions began flying as to her previous wherabouts.

Get this - Fanning opted to skip out on the screening to take the ACT, a college-entrance exam. That is right, the high school senior needed to take the test in order to finalize applications for her pursuit of a higher education. Don't know about you, but that is nothing short of impressive.

In an era where child stars focus more on the art than their education, it is nice to see a young, beautiful and highly successful star living a somewhat normal life. She attends a public high school (one that forces her to make calls from the bathroom when doing press interviews during the work day), and now she is setting an example for teens everywhere by showing that education really is the building block to a better future.

Bravo Fanning, I applaud your choice here. But never forget, if you ever want to call me from a bathroom stall, I'll be sure to pick up!
