“Rogue One” Spot Offers More Clues and Fan Fare

The Force is strong with this one...

When Disney purchased Lucasfilms and the Star Wars mythology, we were told that we would be getting a new Star Wars movie every year for the foreseeable future. Holding true to that promise we are now three weeks away from the second of many films by way of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

The latest television spot, titled "Trust", is all about trusting in the force as we see both Felicity Jones' Jyn Erso and Donnie Yen's Chirrut Îmwe being told to trust in the force.

This spot also gives us an ever so slight glimpse at the titular Darth Vader and those "in charge" of the Empire. We also get our first interactions with the Empire's vehicles, The AT-AT.  For those who remember The Empire Strikes Back, by the time we see the AT-AT's on the planet Hoth, the rebellion is already familiar with them. Seeing the Rebels initial take on the machines will be nothing less than exciting.

The fascinating thing about Rogue One is that while the studio has slowly teased us with stellar tidbits and special effect laden fan service, we still have no idea what happens to these characters.  Many are speculating that this group is in for a suicide run since we haven't seen these characters is any of the films that take place after this one (chronologically). But no one knows for sure.

Rogue One will hopefully answer many of questions about what happened between Episode III and IV. It will certainty unleash many more that will have to be addressed in future installments.  But one thing that no one is questioning is its box-office draw. Tickets went on sale earlier this week with many showtimes already selling out.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story stars Felicity Jones, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk Ben Mendelsohn, Diego Luna, Forest Whitaker, Riz Ahmed, James Earl Jones, Jimmy Smits, Warwick Davis, and Donnie Yen. It is directed by Gareth Edwards.
