Away We Go

B+
Director:
Sam Mendes
Cast:
John Krasinski, Maya Rudolph, Jeff Daniels, Maggie Gyllenhaal
Running Time:

Rated:

Author(s):
Set amidst unexpected circumstance and the anticipation to adapt, Away We Go plays on the mediocrity of life’s expectations and the search to find a place to call home.  Directed by Sam Mendes (Revolutionary Road, American Beauty), and starring two friendly faces in Maya Rudolph ('Saturday Night Live') and John Krasinski ('The Office'), the film begs for attention through abbreviated encounters and awkward happenstance.

Brief Interviews with Hideous Men

D+
Director:
John Krasinski
Cast:
Julianne Nicholson, John Krasinski, Bobby Cannavale, Timothy Hutton
Running Time:

Rated:

Author(s):
Currently known as Jim from NBC's 'The Office,' actor John Krasinski is attempting to broaden his horizons, and appeal, by tackling the late David Foster Wallace's Brief Interviews with Hideous Men. Unfortunately, his attempts should and will go unnoticed as the film, though starting strong, proves to lack focus and clarity, quickly becoming my most regretted watch of the entire festival.

Leatherheads

score:
C+
Director:
George Clooney
Cast:
George Clooney, Renee Zellweger, John Krasinski
Running Time:
114
Rated:
PG-13
Serving as a cross between The Natural and Bill Durham, Leatherheads possess all the right ingredients to make a great old-fashioned sports film; however, the film misses its mark. Failing to capitalize on an amazing cast, a pretty good story and a genre that really needs to get back on its feet, Leatherheads shows up but doesn’t win the game as it disappoints audiences across the board.

Rocker, The

Running Time:

Rated:
PG-13
Over the last few years, stars of NBC's popular sitcom, 'The Office,' have had a difficult time making the transition to film. From Steve Carell's leading role in last summer's major flop, Evan Almighty, to John Krasinski's role in Leatherheads, the box-office has not been kind to the employees at Dunder-Mifflin. But now, after the success of this summer's Get Smart, Rainn Wilson is hoping to turn things around with his new comedy, The Rocker.
