Stretch Armstrong Heading to the Big Screen
After years of sitting in the wings iconic action figure Stretch Armstrong is finally getting his own movie.
Relativity Media has officially partnered with Hasbro, Inc. to develop and produce a live-action tent-pole film that will finally bring the beloved figure to the big screen. Though no details about the project have been released, Relativity has said they are aiming for an April 11, 2014 release date.
Stretch Armstrong was first introduced to the public in 1976 and was later re-released in the 90s to extreme popularity. It was the first action figure that could be repeatedly stretched, only to return to its original size. Because of this the action figure is considered a rare and collectable find today.
This will be another in a long line of films based on Hasbro, Inc products. BothTransformers and GI Joe have spawned sequels on their way to a combined $3 billion in worldwide box office receipts. Battleship, a film based on the popular board game is set to hit theaters this April.
