Sin City 2 Finally Gets a Release Date
For years director Robert Rodriguez has promised a sequel to his 2005 cult hit Sin City. Today, Dimension Films announced that the film is in fact going to happen, and have given it an October 4, 2013 release date.
The film, which has officially been titled Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, will be co-directed by Rodriguez and original novelist Frank Miller. Both Jessica Alba and Mickey Rourke have been confirmed to return, with other cast members expected to be announced shortly 'with some big names expected.'
The original 'A Dame to Kill' graphic novel features characters originally played by Clive Owen, Rosario Dawson, Devon Aoki, and Michael Clarke Duncan. And even if all of these actors don't return, you can expect an impressive line-up for Rodriguez and company (mostly thanks to Rodriguez's impressive work with the green screen, allowing actors to appear on screen when they haven't actually ever met).
When Rodriguez originally announced the sequel almost 8 1/2 years ago, Angelina Jolie was heavily rumored to join the cast. It will be interesting to see if she does end up signing on for the creative film, as it often requires little time commitment for the actors.
To further the confirmation of the picture, DImension also released the first poster for the highly anticipated film. Looks like they are going to stay true to the original film, which should please fans greatly!
