Does Unforgettable Have Second Life on Cable?
Many industry insiders were surprised when CBS cancelled their solid-preforming freshman cop-drama series 'Unforgettable' last week. The decision came down to the wire, but eventually the show was on the outside looking in on the industry's most watched network. CBS President credited the show for its solid performance, but said it ultimate was not '“what went wrong with Unforgettable but what went right with the new pilots.”
But there may be a second life for the Poppy Montgomery starer...on cable.
Word is that both producers have had preliminary conversations with both TNT and Lifetime for a possible pick-up, which would save the series from cancellation.
Conversations with both stations isn't surprising as TNT has seen immense success from their female led cop-drama series 'Rizzoli and Isles' and 'The Closer' and Lifetime has attempted to get a series going with 'The Protector' and 'Against the Wall,' both of which were cancelled after just one season.
With TNT's successful pick-up of NBC's 'Southland' (which is now in its 5th season) and the recent move of ABC's 'Cougar Town' to TBS, a cable move could be in the cards, but it should be noted that there is still a bit of negotiating to be done to make this all happen. But still, for fans of the show, its a strong sign that there could be life after death - though I'm still curious where the cable networks were when 'Jericho' needed some love.
