Weeds: Season Seven
Picking up three years after Nancy's airport arrest, season seven of Showtime's popular series, Weeds, reestablishes the tone that so many viewers fell in love with years ago.
Mary-Louise Parker returns as the pot-dealing mother of three, Nancy Botwin. Her release from jail marks the opening moments of the season as she relocates to New York City, enrolls in a halfway house, and begins to establish herself (and her business). But her return to crime is hindered a bit as she must play the game, conforming to the rules of the home as she attempts to put up a good front for the judge who will ultimately decide if she is fit enough to regain custody of her youngest son who is currently in the hands of her sister.
Unlike seasons past, this time around there aren't a lot of guest stars to ramble on about. Jennifer Jason Leigh does return to play Nancy's semi-crazy sister Jill, and her storyline is must more front and center as she expresses her interest in being the legal 'mother' of Nancy's son.
Michelle Trachtenberg entertains as Nancy's rival competition in New York, and we get to witness the return of a few familiar faces as Nancy must return to her roots in order to build her company at the ferocious pace that her new turf requires.
Featuring all thirteen seventh season episodes, Weeds = Season 7 is a strong addition for the series. While many shows would have already ventured far beyond their prime, this show continues to gain momentum. The Blu-Ray disc features a slew of bonus features, including cast commentaries, a gag reel, a few deleted scenes, and an interview with Alexander Gould on what it was like growing up 'in the weeds'. And if all this doesn't suit your fancy, maybe you can negotiate a trade for one of Andy's Copenhagen Wheels.
