Focusing heavily on the development of its supporting characters and giving star Edie Falco another tremendous story arc, season three of Showtime's “Nurse Jackie” is insanely fresh, hilariously funny, and stylistically witty.

Edie Falco gives another flawless performance as pill-popping nurse Jackie Peyton.  But in season three, the story really is about the supporting cast.  While Jackie and husband Kevin attempt to handle her addictive tendencies, their daughter Grace begins to suffer gravely.  Eddie continues to try Jackie's patience at the hospital, forcing her to deal with him while working to fix a fallout between her and Dr. O'Hara.  And who can forget Zoey's man troubles and Coops search for love.  Needless to say, a lot goes on during this twelve-episode season.

Merritt Wever and Eve Best are still my two favorite actors in this series.  Playing Jackie's intern Zoey and best friend Dr. O'Hara, both ladies bring a different style of comedy to the playing field, broadening the appeal of the show and ensuring that it never grows stale.  Though both are supporting characters, their impact to the overall flow is incredible.

On the other hand, I was most disappointed with Peter Facinelli's Dr. Cooper.   While usually the quirky, someone odd man who grabs women's breasts every time things get intense, he fell a bit this time around, becoming less immortal and a bit too emotional.  Combine that with a cliffhanger that is as predictable and melodramatic as all-get-out, and you will find my only qualms with Nurse Jackie - Season Three.  Otherwise the discs are quite simply flawless.
