For those who aren't aware, a big year is a year long bird watching competition where competitors travel the country in an effort to see more species than the other competitors.  Pictures aren't required (though preferred) as the competition is done by the honor system.

Whew, now that that is out of the way, let's talk about the movie The Big Year, starring comedic icons Jack Black, Steve Martin, and Owen Wilson.

While the three actors represent a comedic tour de force, their combined casting seemed a bit off for me (and based on the films box office performance, most movie goers as well).  But surprisingly, the three personalities mesh well on screen as they portray three bird watchers in a heavy battle to win the annual Big Year competition.

For the most part, the humor lies within the actions of our three main competitors; however, it occasionally slips over into the dialogue as Black, Martin, and Wilson are able to entertain with hilarious delivery on some unforgettable one-liners.  It doesn't take one long to notice that without the three leads, The Big Year would be one 'big' disaster!

While the Blu-Ray disc comes with both the theatrical and extended-unrated-edition, I was a bit disappointed with the lack of bonus features.  A gag reel and a montage of deleted scenes were the only features worth mentioning, and even that isn't a worthy sale.
