After the recent death of a third horse, HBO has opted to cancel production of its critically acclaimed series 'Luck.'
“It is with heartbreak that executive producers David Milch and Michael Mann together with HBO have decided to cease all future production on the series 'Luck'. Safety is always of paramount concern. While we maintained the highest safety standards possible, accidents unfortunately happen and it is impossible to guarantee they won’t in the future. We are immensely proud of this series, the writing, the acting, the filmmaking, the celebration of the culture of horses, and everyone involved in its creation.”
'Luck' had earned major praise from fans and critics alike. It had already earned a second season pick-up and was in the midst of production on the second of the ten new episode order. HBO did confirm that the final two episodes of the series will air. Whether the story will be wrapped at the conclusion has not yet been revealed.
The American Humane Association is currently investigating the set.
